U11Bs: Odiham denied season finale win by Eversley discipline.

Despite a horrendous weather forecast, gin clear skies and bright sunshine bathed the Odiham home ground for the Captain’s as they met in the middle for the toss.  Eversley won and invited Odiham to bat.  James Rand Tom W were quick to the task in the face of some good line and length, wicket to wicket bowling.  Both openers retired with 23 on the board, Finley W-S in his debut set about the bowling with Oli F supporting, then Eversley’s Jamie T took the ball, at the end of his 2 over spell he had taken 3-4- a stunning performance! Peter W and Luca set about the recovery with the tail contributing especially Max H with a brave 11 and then the retirees returned to accelerate through the last 2 overs to amass 123-5.
In response  Eversley took a good look at Oli F’s opening over, and lost a wicket to the first ball of Ned’s with another 2, 1 apiece for Oli and Ned, before the discipline kicked in, and the scoring commenced in earnest.  Measured methodical batting, punishing the bad ball and running everything was the game plan, and it chipped away.  As batsmen came and went, and the total rose, the bowlers just became a little wayward under pressure, and seeing the opportunity Eversley accelerated and took the advantage a reached the target with a couple of overs remaining.
Our boys played really well but it was not our day. It was a great game, played in wonderful sunshine, in superb spirit where a very disciplined who saw a chance and took it- triumphed on the day.  Well done to all, and mant thanks to all the parents and supporters. Have a great summer and perhaps see you on the boundary next season!
