U9C Beat Oakley

Report by Jonny Orange.

The U9C team won a thriller against Oakley in front of all the Friday parents.

Charlie East captained the team and fielded first. Oakley's first batting pair were good and got them off to a flyer. George Willings, playing in his first ever match, then bowled brilliantly to finish with figures of 1-2 (twice rattling the timbers). Monty McCart also bowled tidily. Followed by good overs from Thomas Orange and Charlie East. Their innings finished up with Oliver Fonseca bowling his best ever spell and ended up with a score of 294. An achievable target.

Freddie Wallis / Alex McCorry got us off to a good start, followed by George Willings / Monty McCart - both hitting good boundaries. The galleries were full of fear as the kamikaze duo (Thomas Orange and Charlie East) came out to bat. Somehow they managed not to get run out. Thomas ended up with 20 runs as the pair put on 42 runs. Jamie Sheffield and Oliver Fonseca then batted their hearts out, both running really well. Needing a wicket off the last few balls to win - Odiham remained defiant and won by 5 runs.

Well done all.

Champagne moment has to be the delight George Willings showed when getting his two wickets. Beaming smiles.

Also - Archie Horne stepped in to fill in for the other side. He played really well. almost ran our batsman out numerous times and scored a lovely 4. Thanks Archie.
