It was a great win for the 1st XI on Sunday gainst a strong Churt side. After the usual captains had to pull out with injury, Graham Jones took care of on-field matters with John Hodgson reduced to a manager role on the sideline.
On Saturday, the 1st XI travelled only a few miles down the road to Herriard. With two good wins under their belt, the King Street side arrived confident and the camp was upbeat.
Having lost in the County Cup final last year, the under 13s have a chance to go one better in 2015 as after a convincing win away to Portsmouth in the semi-final. See scorecard here and match tweets here.
After Portsmouth took 2 wickets in the first 3 overs, Odiham recovered from 10 for 2 to post a substantial 154 in their 20 overs without losing any more wickets. Billy Pocock retired on 33 while both James Passmore and Jontie Sebborn retired on 32. Portsmouth made a decent start, but wickets fell as the rate climbed, and they finished 69 short on 85 for 9. Billy Pocock took 3 for 12 off his 4 overs.
The final is at Hursley on Monday 29th June (6pm start). All supporters welcome.
The OGCC XI set sights on a second victory in two weeks as they entertained Kingsclere this weekend. With the skipper absent on golf tour duties, vice captain Phil Thomas stepped up to take over the reigns.
Sunday saw a fantastic match at Ashford Hill for the Sunday 2nd XI. OGCC fielded two under 11 players and an under 13. Arthur Johnson and Max Guibeleguiet both bowled fantastic spells with combined figures of 15 overs for 2 wickets and 62 runs. Arthur also held onto a sharp catch at mid wicket, so they were involved in 3 of the 5 wickets taken.
Simon Kelly competed at the World Triathlon at Hyde Park. Simon was raising money to help continue the work the club is doing to transform the Anniversary Corner. The ITU World Triathlon features the best in the world, including Olympic Gold Medalist Alastair Brownlee.
OGCC’s very own Lara Barrett has spent the week on tour as a Sports Psychologist for the England Visually Impaired team. The six match series against India meant that Lara travelled to Leamington CC (ODI), Wolverhampton CC (ODI), The Kia Oval (T20), Arundel Castle (ODI) and a T20 double header also at Arundel Castle.
OGCC would like to thank all those that donated bottles and came to visit the Magna Carta tombola. Donna Wells, Bruce Aplin, Jane Brown, Kevin Brown and Betts Cross delivered a superb team effort that helped to raise a fantastic £565 for the club.
