Well done to the groundsmen, who made some last minute adjustments to the pitch. The A's, captained by Oliver Livingstone-Booth, lost the toss and batted first.
Our team batted very steadily throughout their innings. Basingstoke fielded really well and didnt give too much away. They only got 3 wickets. From memory - it was one catch and two great run-outs. Henry Janaway scored a lovely 4 and Oliver L-B hit a super 6.
Their bowlers probably averaged about 6 extras / bowler. All our batsmen scored runs - a good start. We finished with a tidy 259. For those that dont know. You start with 200 in this year group. Good that we didnt give many wickets away. Definitely a lot of rusty bats out there and we'll work on hitting more balls.
I dont know what they put in the half time juice - but it did the trick. We fielded and bowled like demons. I have never see the entire opposition getting out. But we did. Each one was out. In total we got 10 wickets. Oliver L-B and Fonseca bowled no extras and both got two wickets!
Jamie Sheffield was robbed of a hattrick as he got 2 wickets off his last balls. Some great catches by Freddie Pocock & Thomas Orange. also a good run-out by Henry J. Four of their batsmen ended on minus points and we won by 22 runs (they got 237).
Having consulted with Aggers and Blowers - The Champagne moment went to Daniel Corfield for his diving one handed stop and saved 3 runs and kept the pressure on their batsmen.
